The Body Shop: Satsuma Body Lotion

I've never been a huge fan of The Body Shop but when I started seeing everyone and their mother post about the Satsuma Body Butter I just had to traipse on over there and try it out.  Let me tell you that I'm not a big fan of body butters that come in tub form.  I just don't like the feeling of the butter getting under my nails or how it feels on my fingers.  It just grosses me out.  So instead, I decided to get the lotion which comes in a bottle with a pump.  Big mistake.

Now, I've tried Body Shop body butters before and while for me they're not very moisturizing they still get the job done.  The lotion however...is absolute shit.  I think it may have even made my skin drier if that's possible.  After using the lotion my skin was still ashy and flaky and even felt sticky after application.  The sticky feeling dissipates after a minute or so but it's very prominent when it's there.  So much so that I thought I was going to have to hop in the shower again to rinse it off.

The only saving grace for the lotion is the smell.  The smell is absolutely, fantastically, amazing and definitely worth the hype it's been getting.  The bottom line though is that neither the butter nor the lotion are moisturizing enough for me.  I do have dry skin, so you might want to keep that in mind if you decide to try these.  I didn't find the body wash to be moisturizing either but it smells just as amazing.

Favorite Summer Nail Polishes

Uh oh, here comes summer.  If you live in a nice normal city I'm sure you're happy about that but in my neck of the woods summer means 100 plus degrees.  Unfortunately,  it's approaching fast.  The high is supposed to be 91 toady and it's April.  April.  This year were not even getting the illusion of spring.  Summer.  I always hated that bitch.

Now, that the higher temps are approaching I thought it might be high time to pull out some of my favorite shades to wear along with my sweat covered body.  Sweat.  It's the newest chicest accessory.  No?  Just me?

Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order: The definition of what I think a mermaid tail would look like.  Green, blue, turquoise and a slight purple duo-chrome.

Illamasqua Jo'mina:  The brightest neon lavender.  I've worn this polish more than any other I own and it lasts longer than any of the others too.

Essie Ole Caliente:  A bright coral that leans more red than orange.

Revlon Colorstay Marmalade:  This one is a brighter version of a peach color and darker too.  The formula isn't particularly long lasting but it's still better than most.

Essie DJ Play That Song:  One of my all time favorites, a neon purple that doesn't lean too cool or warm toned.

Color Club Jackie Oh!:  The brightest most neon color that I own and the formula is amazing.

Orly Mermaid Tale:  I had to throw a glitter in there and this paired with Mermaid to Order is literally a mermaid tail come to life.  I have a post layering the two here.

Let me know what your go to summer polishes are!  Thank you for reading!

Bath and Body Works Spring Candle Haul

Signing up for email alerts with Bath and Body Works was a dangerous decision.  This past weekend they were offering 25% off your entire purchase and the 3-wick candles were 2 for $22.  Whenever this happens and it happens quite frequently, I can't help but buy candles even if I still have plenty to burn.  It's a compulsion.  It's ridiculous.  I'm ridiculous.  Though, I can say that I make it a point to never purchase BBW candles at full price.  Never.  That's some cray right there.

I felt the need to limit myself a bit this time since have quite a few unburned candles sitting in a drawer.  The fresh picked are some of my favorites, both the peach and the strawberry manage to smell fresh and true to their fruit counterpart without seeming too artificial.

Tiki Beach is a new one for me but it's already becoming one of my favorites.  The coconut and vanilla are a nice blend with neither overpowering the other and a little bit of something else I can't really pinpoint.  It's a little floral, maybe.  Pineapple Mango.  What can I say?  It smells like pineapple and mango but the sweetest versions.

What are your favorite candles from BBW right now?

Tom Ford Black Orchid

Never in my life have I ever spent more than $100 bucks on perfume but with age comes, grace?  I don't know but I just turned 25 again for the fourth time and I was feeling...feelings.  Feelings that apparently led me to throw down $155 dollars for the 3.4 oz bottle.  I have no idea what came over me but I'm kind of glad it did because I'm absolutely in love with this fragrance.

Now, I'm pretty shit at trying to describe scents but let's give it a whirl.  When I sprayed this my first thought was that it was spicy and that I could definitely smell the bergamot.  After it dried down it became a bit softer with a noticeable vanilla scent.  If I had to sum it up I'd say it's a strong spicy flower scent with a vanilla undertone.  Does that make sense?  Probably not but anyway it smells amazing.  I get compliments on this whenever I wear it and  I always feel the need to tell them that the designer wanted it to smell like a man's crotch.  True story.

This definitely isn't a fragrance I'd wear to work as it's pretty strong but I do find myself reaching for it pretty much everyday.  It's intoxicating that way.

OPI Love Is A Racket

The weather here lately has been pretty amazing.  It's February and 75 degrees out, it's ridiculous.  So, of course I've been feeling the brights this week and as soon as I slapped this on the rain decided to make an appearance. Ah well, I'm not complaining as we definitely need it!

The formula on this is easy to work with.  This is two coats and then a top coat.  The natural finish is pretty matte.  One thing I love about this one is that it has a lighter pink shimmer running through it which isn't too subtle or in your face either.  In certain light I can see small traces of holographic glitter too and that just puts a smile on my face.  It's the little things.

I'm not sure if this is permanent or if it came out with a certain collection but it's definitely one of my favorites.
